Building a support system is important wherever you go in life. Times can get hard and things may not always go your way, that’s just how life goes. A support system is crucial for those moments. The moments that you may not have done as well on an exam as you thought, you didn’t get the job you applied for, or life just seemed to fail you again.

With a support system, these occurrences might be a little easier to handle. Building a support system means that you have to instill your trust in others. I don’t know about you but that is something I struggle with.

Start the base of your support system with your family. You may not have the best relationship with your parents or siblings, but they are your blood. People that will always be in your life. Take advantage of that and start building those relationships. It’s easy to take something for granted until its gone. It is never too late to mend a broken relationship.

Friends are another great place to go for support. When you are in college your friends become family. You eat together, live together, share everything, etc. These people become your lifeline, the ones you go to for everything. These people are extremely important. They know exactly how to build you up and get you back on your feet after a long day. These are the people that will show up at your house at 2 in the morning just because it's one of those nights.

Your friends care unconditionally about you and are the first ones to notice when something isn’t right. Make sure you appreciate these people. It is easy to make up excuses when you don’t feel like hanging out or are just tired. It is important to always give the amount of love you expect in return.

Grandparents are the best place to go for support. They are older and way wiser. Chances are what you are going through they have experienced something similar. The stories they can tell are incredible and will never leave you bored. They love you unconditionally and look forward to your calls. They will always be there for you no matter what. Make sure you show them how much they mean to you because they are such a special kind of relationship.

Overall, building a support system can be hard. It means you are able to put your trust in others and expect them to do the same. People will let you down, but that is okay. Not everything is going to be perfect in life, but you can choose who you surround yourself with. People who will love you no matter what and care about the little things, because the littlest things mean the most.

It is okay to open yourself up to others and share who you are. Life is a beautiful thing and can be lived large. If you are surrounded by people who love you then you already have everything you will ever need. Support is a blessing and makes people who they are. Who is included in your support system?

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
