Do you know what the Me Too movement is? Or how and why it was created? You might think that you do but the truth is that you probably do not know. The Me Too Movement was not created by Alyssa Milano and it was not created for all women. The truth is that the Me Too movement is just another thing that has been snatched away from Black women.

In 2006, the movement was created by Tarana Burke. She began using the phrase "Me Too" on her Myspace because a young girl had admitted to her that she was sexually assaulted. The movement was created to promote and empower Black women through there sexual assault experiences. Often times Black women are treated differently than White women. We all know this but for some reason, we all still cannot admit it.

The movement that was created for Black women by a Black woman is now a global movement that is most often times only supported if a White woman is writing "#MeToo."

Now, don't confuse what I am saying. I feel that all sexual assault survivors should be supported no matter there race or color. But, we must stop ignoring the truth. The movement that was created for us has been taken from us. As black women, we must open our eyes and understand that. No matter what we do someone will try to take it from us. We have to educate ourselves so when this does happen we will not be blindsided. We must know our history.

On April 15th, 2018 I created a poll on the Me Too movement. I asked questions such as who created the movement and who was it created for. Eight-five percent of the people that responded got it wrong. Most of those people were black. And here lies our problem. We cannot except White people to respect us if we do not respect ourselves. We must educate ourselves on our history so that we can correct them when they're wrong. The Me Too movement is not the only example of this. So get up and go educate yourself on this. Or our children will not know their real history.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
