Who Should I Bring To My Date Function? As Told By Gossip Girl
Millennials Today

It's Date Function Season! Whether it is a regular function or a semi-formal, these events are around the corner for the Greek world. This is the time where you start to stress over what you're going to wear, how you are going to prepare and most importantly who you are going to bring. No matter what year you are, choosing the right date is the biggest struggle. You probably have so many options going through your head and want to make sure you pick the best one. It is honestly like an episode of Gossip Girl because who you bring is such a crucial part of how your night goes and we all know that bringing the wrong person can end very bad. (Think back to the very first episode, Blair brought Nate but Serena ended up being the winner takes all that night) So in the true comparison of the Sorority Function to Gossip Girl, I thought I might as well show you your options in the form of the show's characters!

1. The Cute New Guy You Just Met

Bringing the new guy you just met, like Dan, is a great way to get to know him. Simply ask him to the function as friends and see how he is around other people. If you are interested in him as more than friends then this is a great opportunity to show what you've got and have some fun together. This option is a pretty good one for a newer member who just met a ton of new people in the first few weeks of college but hasn't fully made a lot of guy friends.

2. The Long Term Guy Friend

The long term guy friend, like Nate, is a great date because you know exactly how he acts with you and socially. You probably have inside jokes and tons of fun together just on your own so bringing him will just be a fun outing to you guys. Silly pictures and memories are guaranteed with him. It's also a plus if he's cute. #friendgoals

3. Your Little Sister

Maybe she wants to see how sorority life is so she can join in a year or two? Or maybe you and you sister are just really close. Bringing your little sister, like Jenny, to a function could be good sister bonding and a super fun time. Not only will you introduce her to your new "sisters" but I am sure your mom will be happy you are still spending time with her even thought you moved out for college. This option is most beneficial if you live near your hometown.

4. The Hot Mysterious Guy Your Friend Set You Up With

You may have heard stories about this guy around campus or just from your friend but you don't want to pass up on the opportunity to find out what he is like yourself. Accepting to bring the hot mysterious guy, like Chuck, to your function can either go bad or really good so you do have some risk here, but who knows? Maybe you will dance the night away and become the next Chuck and Blair!

And last but not least...

5. Your Best Friend!

You can't lose if you bring your bestie! Having a blast dancing and mingling with everyone will be easy because you and your best friend know everything about each other, just like Serena and Blair. Endless pictures will be taken, memories will be made, and fun will be had. Not only do you two look SO cute together but there will be no awkward silences during the night.

So, don't stress about your upcoming function! Just pick the kind of adventure you want to have by picking the right person for the evening. Your options are wide and there are even more of these to choose from. When in doubt your sorority sisters will help you out so give them a call! - xoxo GG

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
