Last week, the Republican National Convention took place at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH. It was held from July 18 to 21.

The first night, Melania Trump spoke at the convention, which put her in the hot seat the next day. Once the speech was over, her speech not only resembled but plagiarized Michelle Obama’s speech from 2008 when President Barack Obama was first campaigning to be America’s next president.

With many Americans not really knowing Donald Trump’s wife, it left them curious and others in rage. While Michelle’s speech was clear and concise, Melania’s speech was, with some lines not exactly the same, but short and similar. Some Americans that are not supporters of Trump just added more dislikes toward him. “Are we really going to let a hooker be the first lady? I mean damn, I love hookers and all. But really?” said by YouTube user Kingston Hawke.

A day later, Sen. Ted Cruz gave his speech and left a message for Americans to vote with their conscience for the upcoming election. Cruz also decided that he was not going to endorse Trump. Cruz was attacked by attendees of the convention and social media for the rest of the week. In an interview with ABC News, Cruz made a statement saying that he is not in favor of supporting someone that has attacked his family. During the primary campaign, Trump made bad remarks about his wife and father.

On the final day of the convention, Jerry Falwell Jr., president of Liberty University gave a speech. Falwell started out thanking Trump for who he is, stands for and what he represents. Then he went on to share about what America needs. Falwell ended his speech telling everyone that someone once told him “Osama, Obama and yo mama.” Osama was said first because he was captured, Obama came next because he has six months left in the White House and yo mama to tell Chelsea Clinton her mother will be fired out of office. His speech upset some Americans as he did not represent a good Christian persona with those points given.

The final message of the night ended with Trump. Trump started out telling everyone in attendance that he accepts the presidential nomination. Some of Trump’s speech pointed out law and order and policing. “No one who is not able to address this matter is not fit to lead this nation,” said Trump speaking on policing. Also noted by Trump is that in January 2017 safety will be restored, because the government is to protect the people.

One of Trump’s final remarks said was that President Obama mistakenly put Clinton in charge of foreign policy. “Let’s beat her in November,” said Trump as a few ending lines of the speech.

The Democratic National Convention will take place July 25 to 29 in Philadelphia, Pa.Some of the highlights of the week will consist of President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama along with mothers of the movement.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
