Many people all over the world have different fears or phobias. Some are as strange as the fear of escalators, and others are as common as the fear of flying in an airplane. You might think the reason people fear getting on a plane is because they think the plane will crash and everyone will die. While some people do think that, others fear they will have a panic attack or suddenly get claustrophobic in the air and not be able to get out. In that case, like me, booking a window seat is always ideal.

People who are afraid of some aspect of flying usually develop these feelings over time. Someone can go years with no anxiety and then over time it develops and usually worsens. Some respond to these fears by cutting out travel by plane completely. Others try to deal with it because they see that by not flying to new places, they miss out on the adventures and opportunities that lie when your plane touches down at its final destination.

The anxiety and anticipation that one feels leading up to a flight causes them to have a negative perspective on it. Having sleepless nights imagining the horror prior to the travel day is not doing anything to help your phobia. Your fear is still going to be there and it probably will have worsened.

The more people fear to fly, the more likely they are to stop traveling all together. This also does not solve their problem either. The disruption in their life and causing an inconvenience is just making the situation worse. Just as studies have proven, to conquer your fear you have to experience the thing you are most afraid of. Taking more flights every year will make you more used to the concept of flying. Lastly, freaking out on the plane does not do you any justice as well. You need to try and calm yourself because fighting your fear as you're experiencing it will not do anything. By staying tranquil and not thinking about how you are deathly scared at the moment, will help ease you into getting over your fear.

So if you're like me and have gone on a billion flights, and nothing seems to help you, sorry. Life will not end once you step on an airplane. It might be a terrifying experience for a few hours, but you will get off safely at your destination.

College students, you might be able to relate to this one. These probably sound familiar because we often tell ourselves these phrases; however, we are unable to follow or agree with these the following, deep down inside of our overwhelmed, tired minds.

1. "No more spending money on useless things"

Until you walk into a 99 cents store and suddenly have the urge to pick up anything that's less than a dollar.
