As many of you know, Florida Southern College will be getting a new sorority this fall. This sorority is Tri Delta.

But, who is Tri Delta?

Tri Delta is one of the biggest and oldest sororities to date. They have chapters at 139 different college campuses, and this year they will be starting chapters at five college campuses, including our own.

Tri Delta's philanthropy is St. Jude, which is a children's research hospital. All members across the United States (and Canada) raise money for St. Jude's in various ways. Some fundraising events include DHOP (Delta house of pancakes), sending out care packages to patients at the hospitol, and through sports competitions.

Along with helping out their philanthropy, Tri Delta will also hope to partner with a women's organization to promote a healthy and positive body image. They have a program called "Body Image 3D" which promotes students to have a healthy mind, body, and spirit.

The new member class will also choose a service activity to give back to the local community.

Tri Delta has three prominent values: truth, self sacrifice, and friendship. Because this will be a new chapter on campus, they are also searching for strong leaders to help lead the new classes.

Because Tri Delta is starting this fall, they will be doing their recruitment process a little differently than the other sororities.

Just before fall break (October 10-13) they will be having an information table on campus near the Buck Stop. You will be able to ask questions about the sorority, as well as recieve snacks and Tri Delta swag.

Then, from October 11-12th there will be information sessions at the Thrift Alumni building.

The official recruitment week begins after fall break from October 24-29th. The first three days are the "Consultation" days, and will consist of informal interviews. You sign up for your date and time when you sign up for recruitment. Next, on October 26th there will be an information presentation that will Tri Delta's philanthropy and Body Image 3D program. The last night of recruitment will be on October 28th, and is invite only. October 29th is Bid Day.

All of greek life is invited to help Tri Delta celebrate their Bid Day!

Recruitment sign ups are available now on: jointridelta.com/flsouthern

You may contact the Tri Delta Consultant, Christina Young, at cyoung@tridelta.org with any questions.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
