"Mr. Robot" on USA Network is a show with a complicated storyline, characters, and ideas. The show starts off by introducing us to Elliot, a young man who works as a cybersecurity engineer at a big corporation. Now, Elliot is not your average guy. He may look normal in the daytime, but at nighttime, Elliot becomes a vigilante hacker. In fact, he gets involved with an underground group of hackers who have their agenda. Their mission: to take down corporate America.
The show is a masterpiece. At first, you might think you have everything figured out about "Mr. Robot", but soon after, you begin to realize that not everything is what it seems.
The characters are all unique, complex, and interesting to see grow. No character is black or white. Instead, they are gray. They have their black and white moments which make them so relatable to viewers. As you watch the show, the characters grow through their story arc. They make difficult decisions and get faced with many consequences. The characters are all different shades of gray in a way. Not one character is one-sided nor perfect. The main cast of the show includes Rami Malek, Carly Chaikin, Portia Doubleday, Martin Wallström, Christian Slater, and Stephanie Corneliussen.
One thing that makes me love Mr. Robot is the music. The original soundtracks made for the show and the songs used in the show are amazing. The music brings life and character to many scenes within the show. I am not going to spoil what songs appear, but I will say that the songs are entirely handpicked for each scene. Just like for many shows, music can make the scene a hit or miss. "Mr. Robot" proves how powerful music truly is the when used in movies, series, etc.. "Mr. Robot" also uses an interesting approach to their cinematography. Instead of the character always being at the center of the shot, we get some interesting angles for them. Most of the time, characters are not at the center, but instead, at the bottom corner of the frame. Sometimes they will appear to take up more space, and other times, they seem to be with less space. There are many reasons that fans have come up with to explain the cinematography. Some see the extra space as headspace for when the character is thinking or making a decision. Others believe it symbolizes the power that corporations have over them. There are also other forms of cinematography that are used perfectly in other scenes to show emotion.
