People may not realize it, but John Kasich is still running for the Republican nomination for President of the United States. He's only won one state and it was his home state of Ohio. Besides Ohio, he came in second in New Hampshire. Other than that, he hasn't received anywhere near enough delegates to win the nomination. The only chance Kasich has at winning the nomination would be through a brokered convention. But lets say Kasich somehow miraculously wins the nomination. What does he believe in?
1. Immigration.
Kasich wants a strong and secure border, like just about every American. Unlike a certain Republican candidate, Kasich does not believe that kicking all 11-million illegal immigrants and building a ridiculous wall that Mexico will pay for is possible or logical. Kasich believes that even if you're an illegal immigrant, if you have been law-abiding, then you should be able to stay here.
2. Abortion.
Like the vast majority of Republicans, Kasich is against Planned Parenthood and believes it shouldn't be funded by the federal government. Kasich is in favor of abortion if the situation was rape, incest or to save the life of the mother. There are Republicans that believe abortion should be illegal no matter what, so this belief would bring Kasich at least a little more towards the middle
3. Foreign Policy.
Kasich is basically against every foreign policy stance that the Obama administration is in favor of. In my opinion, the most important job the President has is keeping the American people safe. So if any politician wants my vote, they better know what they're talking about when it comes to foreign policy. Kasich wants to defeat ISIS with the help of NATO and regional allies. Kasich wants to stand up to Russia and China and renew the military.
4. The Economy.
When asking about the economy, Kasich said, “I know what the formula is: cut taxes, you restrain the government, you don't let the regulators put you out of business and you grow jobs." The economy is getting worse according to Republicans and as Governor of Ohio, Kasich balanced budgets.
5. Crime and Safety.
Keeping the American people safe is very important. The President's job is to not only keep us safe from terrorists and other foreign attacks, but The President must keep us safe from people within the country. America is full of crime at the moment. You look at places like Chicago, and Detroit and your heart breaks to see how much crime and violence there is. Kasich was able to fix issues like this as Governor of Ohio, so I'm assuming he could fix those issues in other places, too.
When you read Kasich's policies, he actually knows what he is talking about. I don't think the American people are giving him enough credit for what he's achieved as Governor of Ohio. Whether or not he can overcome the massive lead that Trump and Cruz have on him in the delegate race is still left to be seen. Before he can catch Trump or Cruz, he will have to climb over Marco Rubio, who has more delgates than him even though he suspended his campaign in March.
