“Rock the Mic” Iyanla Vanzant

Iyanla Vanzant is a life coach, spiritual leader, lawyer, author, tv personality, and inspirational speaker. I had the opportunity to hear some motivational lessons from her. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. The name “Iyanla” came from her mother and it means “great mother”. She attended two different universities and she is a ordained New thought minister. Iyanla motivates people to go after their dreams. As an inspirational speaker, she stretches having accountability and purpose to help those succeed.

She wrote several books such as “Trust”, “Power from broken pieces”, “Forgiveness”, “Peace within”, “Everyday I pray”, and “In the meanwhile”. Her books are all award winning books and give hope to people. She is also an Honorary member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA). Vanzant was the founder of Inner visions called “starting over”, which is founded by her and her daughter. Vanzant expresses her ideas and values in different forms through her books. As a strong women, her writing these books allow her to be a great influence on women all around the world. Her books are a prime example of the person she is.

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.
