Who Doesn't Love Fall?

Everyone loves a good summer, but there comes a time when it must end. The temperature drops, the leaves fall, and the holiday festivities begin. Fall has to be one of my most favorite seasons of them all. What’s not to love about fall? Halloween, pumpkins, and my birthday happens to “fall” in fall too. (See what I did there). And so, because I love fall so much, I wanted to share some of my favorite things you must do this fall. First off, gather your friends, grab your camera and get your fall on.

1. Apple picking at a local orchard.

2. Carving a pumpkin.

Yeah, it will be messy but it’s all worth it in the end, especially if you roast the pumpkin seeds.

3. Take an artsy picture with the colorful leaves.

A picture of a leaf, a selfie in the leaves, or you can even take it to the next level and make a boomerang as you throw the leaves in the air.

4. Cozy up in your favorite blanket and watch a scary movie with your friends.

If you need any ideas, the second season of Scream Queens is coming out soon and I would definitely recommend it.

5. Go to a Halloween themed party.

It might not have been a “cool” thing to dress up in a costume in middle school or high school, but it will definitely be worth it. It's fun to go out but be safe too.

6. Go get your favorite fall boots and vest out.

7. Hayrides.

8. Go to a local fair.

The foods is always good at the fair.

9. Haunted houses.

This is one that you will want to bring your friends to. It's always fun to get a little scared.

10. Go to your school's football game.

Get your spirit on! It doesn’t have to just be football, but football tends to be a fun fall sport to attend. Get dressed up in your school colors and go support your fellow classmates.

11. Go on a hike in the crisp fall air.

Sometimes you need to put down the books and take a walk through the leaves. It's fun to hear them crunch, and its always a good thing to bring your dog too.

12. Build a Bonfire.

Smore’s. Smore’s. Smore’s. Who doesn’t love cozying up next to a warm fire on a cool fall night?

13. Watch your favorite Halloween movie.

"Casper", "Halloween Town", "Hocus Pocus"-- all a must for a movie night.

14. Apple Pie.

Home made or not, apple pie is a must. If that doesn’t work you can always go with pumpkin bread too.

15. Apple Cider.

Going off of the apple pie, apple cider is another great drink for the fall season.

16.

16. Decorate for the season.

Hang up some leaves, spider webs, or candles (fake ones give off the same effect if your in a dorm.) It gets you even more into the fall spirit and is fun to make too.

17. Jump into a pile of leaves.

Another great opportunity for an Instagram.

18. Thanksgiving Dinner.

One of the best meals of the year. Make sure you don’t miss it.

19. Go through a corn maze.

Don’t get lost though.

20. Hang out with your friends.

Fall is a great season, especially if you make it fun.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
