Who Are You?

Everybody has a distinct identity and a story, but what's yours? Do you truly know?

Who Are You?

We live in the age of technology, the age where many people find it more important for others to view their social media posts with admiration rather than their true identity. This obsession is just a distraction and takes away from what really matters. People are constantly changing. Constantly evolving. Constantly growing. As life progresses, different traits are integrated into your personality, but many of these changes go unnoticed because of interests being occupied elsewhere. It’s important that you know who you are now and who you want to be. Without being aware of yourself you can’t gain a better understanding of your surroundings. You need to fully commit to yourself before you can start to commit to other people, which is why it’s vital that you understand your being better than you understand somebody else.

How do you see yourself?

Is who you are now who you always were?

What parts of your personality do you like?

How do you want other people to see you?

How can you change the parts you don’t like?

It’s easy to become lost in the craziness that is the world and end up becoming someone that we’re not meant to be or don’t want to be. This is why it’s so important to reflect on who you are to that you can become the person you’re proud to be. You have to be your own hero. Trying to become your own hero can show you your true potential, which is a good change. Change isn’t always a bad thing; in fact it’s rather welcome because it makes for a less boring life. As a matter of fact, many times throughout your life you will change. You’ll gain different perspectives and become different people. It’s good to experiment with who you are so that you can discover yourself, but you should never lose sight of everything and everybody you once were. Remember the past and carry it with you because those are still characteristics that were a part of you which you learned from.

Nobody says it better than The Doctor ("Doctor Who") himself. “We all change when you think about it. We’re all different people, all through our lives, and that’s okay. That’s good. You’ve got to keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be.”

And we are. We are all different people all throughout our lives. We’re not the same people we used to be when we were children. That’s because we gained perspective, learned more, became wiser, and changed. We changed to fill in our new surroundings. We changed because we had to. All those characteristics that we had when we were younger, however, they’re all still with us. They influence our everyday lives. This is what keeps us moving. Goals, downfalls, successes and failures are what define us. They demonstrate who we are and what we want in life. Explorations, discoveries, and information are how we change. We change to accommodate our experiences, which is why changing is so important. If you‘re not the person you truly are, then there is nothing in your way from making your escape and finding yourself. Be who you were meant to be because nothing in the world will make you happier than that. Everybody has a purpose, and if you haven't found yours, that's because it's waiting to be discovered.

Who are we? We are people who are constantly changing. Constantly evolving. Constantly growing. Who are you?

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
