Who Are You Desiring?

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

Often times when we want a man in our life is when we see others with one. It reminds us that we are "lonely and without". I was with a group of girls and someone brought this up, "Love when you are ready, not when you are lonely." Song of Solomon 8:4 says the same thing, "...I charge you: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires."
A guy can not fix that hole in your heart that is desiring something, only God can. Humans are faulty sinful people. We make mistakes and when others make mistakes against us we never fully forgive and forget, but God is perfect.
All of these things that we are wanting in a guy is only temporary and will not last in eternity, but God's love lasts forever.

A man is not made to complete you, he is made to compliment you.

Why do you desire to find a significant other? How can God meet those desires in your life?
Beverly in, "Lady in Waiting", tells us best.

I want to be loved.
"...I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. " Jeremiah 31:3

I want someone to adore me.
The King has brought me into his chambers to adore me. My lover is outstanding among 10,000. Song of Solomon 1:4: 5:10

I want someone to hold my hand.
"...I will uphold you with My righteous hand." Isiah 41:10

I want to be accepted and valued.
I am accepted in the Beloved. Ephesians 1:6

I want help in my days of trouble.
"Call upon Me in the day of trouble: I shall rescue you..." Psalms 50:15

I want to share my life - the joys and the struggles - with one person.
God will share with me the treasures of darkness and hidden riches. Isiah 45:3

I want a champion of my causes - one who is willing to fight for me.
"The Lord will fight for you..." Exodus 14:14

I want someone to meet my needs.
God is meeting all of my needs. Philippians 4:19

I want intimacy.
The Lord is intimacy with the upright. Psalms 140:13

I want someone to help me in life.
There is no one like God who rides the heavens to help you. Deuteronomy 33:26

I want to walk through life sustained and carried. I do not want the whole load of life.
Even to my old age, God will sustain me, carry me, and rescue me. Isiah 46:4

I want a companion for this life.
God invites us to humbly walk with him. Micah 6:8

Only God can meet the deepest needs and desires of your heart. A man may do it temporarily, but God will do it for eternity.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
