Who Am I?

I am more than just my name.

Who Am I?

Often people ask us this question -- "Who am I?" Most times our answers are simple and plain… just our name. But in truth, you are more than just a name. You are more than just human. You are something beyond the ordinary. Just in case you are yet to understand who you really are, I will let the bible explain better:

Romans 8:15says, The spirit that we receive is not a spirit of slavery, but that of redemption. It is the spirit that makes us cry ‘Abba Father.’”

Do you know what this means? It means that you are not a slave anymore. It means that once you have God’s spirit in you, you are His son/daughter. You are not a slave and so sin, death, failure, sickness, poverty, disappointment have no say over you. You are the son/daughter of the great king, how can you be poor? You are the child of the great healer, how can sickness have power over you? You have God in your genes. You are a superior being. If you are tested, the DNA you see is God’s DNA. He is your father because you have accepted Him and received His spirit. And so, you can speak to that ugly situation and break free from that chain.

Remember the story of the Prodigal Son? (Luke 15:11-32) Read it up. The boy, who took his share of his father’s property, squandered it and came back begging for forgiveness. Well, let’s take a look at that story. Our focus isn’t on that boy but on his brother. The younger son said, ‘Father give me my share of your wealth and let me go and live my life’. His father divided his wealth, gave the young man his share and he left. Now tell me, this man had only two children. He divided his wealth and gave one-half to one child; who does the other half belong to? The other child right? But this other child failed to realize that it was his. He failed to realize that being only the son of a king meant he was a potential King. Yet he worked as a slave and equated himself with slaves. He didn’t have the spirit of recognition to know that everything was his own. He was requesting for a kid (a baby goat) when he owned cows. He was requesting for a small celebration with his friends when it was in his power to feast Day and Night to his heart content

A lot of us suffer because we do not know who we are. Your body alone is the temple of the Lord. A temple is a place where people come and see God. A temple is a place of peace, calm, rest and deep communion with God. So tell me why do you still suffer? O that God may give you the spirit of recognition that you may see that you are more than people see you as.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
