There are tons of different types of journals you can keep (day-to-day, prayer, bullet, poetry, photo, etc). There’s also an everything (or smash) journals where you can throw all of those things into one book. There’s so many different ideas for different kinds of personalities.
I think it’s important to keep some type of journal because it’s a memory book for you to look back on later in your life. Journaling is a great way to document your life so you won’t forget the memories you want to keep. Even for those who aren’t really writers, there’s things like photo journaling and smash booking. Smash booking is a type of journal where you jot down any thoughts or quotes you like, and glue or tape any pictures, scraps of magazine, newspapers, or just about anything into the book.
One of the reasons I became so inspired to start keeping journals was because when I was a little girl I found some of my Great Grandma’s journals, and they were fascinating to me. Now, when I get to look back at old memories and thoughts I had from years ago, I really appreciate that I took the time to write everything down.
Another thing journaling can be really good for is learning from your past mistakes. This one may sound a little cheesy, but honestly, having the ability to look back and realize your mistakes (or something you did well) is pretty cool. Journaling all in all is a really good way to learn about yourself and it’s something that is definitely worth your time.
