I am so hungry right now. If you ever visit China, you should eat these things. Or really just eat them because they're good.
凉皮 (Cold noodles)
If I could eat this every day I would.
北京烤鸭 (Peking Duck)
Some fancy places will literally cut the duck into nice arrangements in front of you.
小笼包/饺子 (Dumplings sort of)
^This is 小笼包 and while they're basically the same as dumplings, they're a lot soupier.
^These are proper dumplings. They look different from the other ones because they're folded differently and are boiled not steamed. Again, these come in different flavors and the stuffing varies a lot from place to place.
刀削面(Sort of Specialty Noodles)
The noodles are thicker and flatter than normal, and I really miss the texture.
羊肉串(Lamb Skewers)
One time I visited inner Mongolia, and they literally slaughtered a sheep in front of my family and then cooked it. I felt awful but it was delicious.
麻婆豆腐 (MaPo Tofu)
I feel like most people know this one. Yes, it is super good.
炒饭 &炒面 (Fried Rice &Fried Noodles)
I ate this last week.
I used to order this every time I went to a restaurant.
汤面(Noodles &Soup)
I had this yesterday. You can add whatever you want to it (usually leftovers) and it's still good.
葱油饼(Green Onion Scallion fried thing)
So crispy, so oily, so good. Used to eat these for breakfast instead of toast.
茶叶蛋 (Tea eggs)
An excellent snack. They sell these at convenience stores in china, and they're a lot more flavorful than the regular kind.
辣子鸡 (Spicy Chicken)
Most of those peppers you see are actually just for decoration. It's so fried MmmmmmmMmm....
珍珠奶茶 (Bubble Tea)
This is actually technically a Taiwanese thing (sorry :( ) But it's just so sweet and popular that I couldn't resist. Those little black tapioca balls are chewy and give you something to do instead of just drinking the insanely sweet milk tea. Now it comes in a bunch of varieties.
北京老冰棍 (Beijing popsicles)
These are literally less than 50 cents and I once ate 5 of these in a row before I got brain freeze.
There is some great food out there!
