I hope this article finds you enjoying a peaceful winter's day, with soft Christmas music on and something sweet baking in the oven. Reflecting on the past semester, I realize how much I enjoyed my ceramic class. I wanted to share one of my favorite pieces. The moment I saw this piece out of the kiln - still warm - I knew it carried a special meaning. As we would hear quite often before opening a kiln, it truly would feel like Christmas Morning each time. We knew the essence of what was "under the tree,” but always anticipated the Big Moment. We were able to quietly enjoy all the beautiful things sitting before us. I used two different glazes on the cross. First, "Pete's Cranberry" and then, "Hannah's Buttermilk." When I saw how the cross turned out, I couldn't help but think of the verses from the song "Jesus Paid it All" - "Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow." As the snow falls this Christmas Season, covering the outside world like a blank canvas, let it bring inspiration to you on the inside as you enjoy the warmth of the Christmas season and await the New Year.
