Which Wealthy Stereotype Are You?

DJ MC Private School or Relatable Business Man?

Which Wealthy Stereotype Are You?

The upper class has always been a force in society that has power over the lives of those in the lower class in some way or another. Most of the time, people who belong in the upper class aren’t actively preying on the financially unfortunate, but they are often seen as being greedy and one dimensional, which may not do them too much justice. Though the way society portrays upper-class folk is flawed, it makes me think about which upper-class/wealthy stereotype I would identify with. Here are some to think about.

Mr./Ms. Millionbucksworth

This person is the 18th century British aristocracy personified, except they live in the 21st century. They walk with their nose in the air, are weary of those who they deem peasants, and may or may not wear a corset (depending on their level of commitment to their social rank). Mr./Ms. Millionbucksworth surround themselves with the finer things in life like art pieces from the Victorian era and expensive china that just sits in the cabinet they got at the auction for like a hundred grand which is the equivalent of pennies in fake aristocrat money.

DJ MC Private School

DJ MC Private School is the OG gangsta of the suburb. This person has almost convinced themselves that they’re from “the hood” and know “the struggle.” If DJ MC Private School has to spend a lot of cheddar to stage a shoot-out to rap about, they will do that, but they’d prefer to go out of their way to be authentic. The only drawback to that is actually sustaining an injury, which would lead to them being questioned by the police about who their assailant was and that wouldn’t fly because DJ MC Private School ain’t no snitch.

Cutthroat Businessman

This guy is vaguely aware that people have feelings, but he doesn’t care. He cares about things like the stock market, amassing wealth by buying other businesses and, well, that’s about it. Occasionally, Cutthroat Businessman will want to socialize and sit down and have a drink with a fellow businessman (while secretly plotting his downfall). The thing about Cutthroat Businessman is that he never holds back. He credits his lack of empathy as the reason for his success and despite many people hating his guts, he believes they’re really just his envious fans.

Relatable Businessman

Relatable Businessman prides himself on knowing the people that buy from or support whatever product he puts out there. He usually credits his humble beginnings to his ability to have compassion for all people and wants to show that he’s just a normal guy. Relatable Businessman may be a pansy in the eyes of Cutthroat Businessman, but Relatable Businessman’s philanthropic endeavors and charitable ways make him a a sweetheart.

Businesswomen

It doesn’t really matter if she’s cutthroat, she’s a female in a male-dominated field so she’s going to encounter some type of hell one way or another. Her ideas may have be ignored by her co-workers, but be supported when those same ideas are repeated by a man, but she has to be strong and know that despite her sexist environment, she is a boss.

Reality TV Stars

Reality TV Stars are actually really generous; they let you see the lavish life you’re missing out on from the comfort of your home. They also stomp the myth that rich people don’t have problems by making sure to engage in dramatic fights in almost every episode. Despite physical altercations and revealing confessional scenes, reality TV stars show you that at the end of the day, they’re just like you and me. Somehow.

The Rich Kid

The rich kid knows no age. The rich kid could be a 16-year-old girl or a 45-year-old man, the only real defining trait of the rich kid is that their wealth is pretty much completely their parents’ and the parties are usually always at their house. And their car is probably more expensive than your mortgage and their new watch could probably pay off your college tuition, but it’s really no big deal.

The Fake Revolutionary

The Fake Revolutionary wants to overthrow every social structure, especially if that structure benefits them, and even goes as far as to protests their father’s company because they are actually oppressed by it. They don’t really know anything about revolution except they involve opposing some force so they both ironically and unironically protest everything: large corporations, small businesses, food, water, air, even the people reading this article.

The "Chill Bruh"

Chill Bruh is all about being laid back. They are so laid back that they will swear they forget they’re rich. This person is always down to turn up, uses all of the latest slang terms (sometimes incorrectly), and has a poster of Bob Marley hanging on the wall in their room as a testament to just how “chill” they really are. If Chill Bruh isn’t too far gone, he’ll probably be kind enough to give you some meta-philosophical advice that, if you think about long enough, makes complete sense and you will be in awe of how enlightened he truly is.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
