Have you ever seen someone with an absolutely stunning lip and just wondered how they manage to pull it off? They make it look so effortless and easy, but when you try to wear lipstick you just end up feeling like a fool with slime all over your mouth. Don't give up just yet! There are many different types of lipstick that work for all types of people. Here are just a few that might fit you just right.
Moisturizing Lipstick
Moisturizing lipstick is a great lipstick for those who suffer from chapped lips. It helps keep a shiny color while keeping your lips moist and crack free. You'll usually have to apply more coats of this lipstick more often than others, especially after eating and drinking. Nearly every brand has a version of moisturizing lipstick, but I find that Rimmel London's Kate Moss collection has some nice ones to offer. These can be bought at all major drug stores for under $10.
Matte Lipstick
If your looking for a lipstick that's a tab bit less maintenance, matte just might be your type. When applying, it goes on dry and stays that way nearly all day. Minimal smudging and application, it's a good choice for a busy person. That is, of course, if you can get past the dryness on your lips. Matte is making a huge splash in the cosmetic industry at the moment, with nearly every brand having a take on it. Mac Cosmetics have a great line from vibrant to nude tones, priced at around $16 a tube.
Sheer Lipstick
This type of lipstick will provide a thin, sheer tint to your lips rather than bog them down completely with color. It's very casual, light, and easy to wear. Reapplication is a must after eating, drinking, and every few hours, but nothing too strenuous. This won't provide a serious pop of color but will give your lips a more casual shine. Ulta offers a range of sheer lipsticks in various shades for $8.
Lip Gloss
While it's not exactly a lipstick per-say, lip gloss is great for a night out, a casual makeup look, or even complimenting a matte lipstick. Lip gloss provides shine that can be seen across a room, but it also tends to be a bit sticky (your hair will inevitably get stuck in it). Lip gloss will vary by brand for colors and vibrancy, but are fairly light for the most part. Burt's Bee has a great gloss selection priced at around $8.
Lip Stain
If you want to skip the lip stick all around and try something new, lip stains may be a good option. They provide long lasting color without drying out your lips. While you're color will likely last all day, it doesn't provide that overall smooth coverage like a lipstick or lip gloss would. e.l.f have a small line of nice lip stains in various colors, starting at a price of only $2.
