As I'm writing the opening paragraph right now, I don't know what the character's signs are. I'm very excited to learn, as maybe it would help me understand them more as I continue to read them! I'm currently about to start the fourth installment of the Heroes of Olympus series, "The House of Hades" by Rick Riordan.
If you've read Percy Jackson before, great! Look on ahead and see who you most identify with. If you haven't, take a look anyway, and maybe you're itching for a new, fun quarantine read! You can find your character and root for them along the way!
Some are divided by their birthdays, but some are chosen by me. My reasonings are definitely subject to my own interpretation of the zodiac, so as usual, take it with a grain of salt. But also, I'm definitely right.
Here's my list of zodiac signs and their corresponding characters:
Aries - Charles Beckendorf
I feel like Chares, and Aries, are not people who you should mess with. They are bold, outspoken, and passionate, which resonates the most to me as Charles. While he doesn't pop up too often in the series, you're aware of his presence when he does appear. He's definitely a respected leader among the half-bloods. Aries is also a fire sign, and a son of Hephaestus of Charle's caliber definitely belongs under this zodiac sign.
Taurus - Clarisse La Rue
Clarisse's birthday is unknown, but I get a big Taurus vibe from her. She's stubborn and has things her way, much like her father, the war god Ares. While she may be aggressive and scary, she also has a soft spot. In the Percy Jackson series, she tries to nurse her boyfriend back to sanity and becomes unlikely BFFs with Silena Beauregard, daughter of Aphrodite. She's a character that I wish we got to learn more about, but I know enough to stick her as a Taurus.
Gemini - Frank Zhang
How fitting. Frank can turn into whatever animal he wants! There are other more important (sorry, Frank, I'm not your biggest fan) that fits into this category, like my main man Grover Underwood, but Frank just makes sense to put here. His powers is what mainly possess me to place him here. Frank doesn't identify too much with his parentage, his father being Mars, so it does not reflect too too much on his zodiac sign placing. Maybe slightly, but again, I don't know much about astrology, soo.
Cancer - Annabeth Chase
Many of the main characters fall under the Cancer umbrella, including Jason Grace, but I refuse to let anyone take this category than my main girl Annabeth Chase. Ever-intuitive and smart daughter of Athena, Annabeth can think her way out of every situation and always comes prepared. She's also fiercely loyal and protective of everyone and everything she loves. If you're a Cancer, you're lucky to fall into the same category as the queen of all queens.
Leo - Percy Jackson
Honestly, it makes sooo much sense that Percy is a Leo. He's always being the hero, the center of attention, & the main character! He's fiercely loyal & would never leave a friend behind. If your birthday is August 18th, congratulations! You share a birthday with our front man. There's an interesting clash between being a fire sign and being the son of the sea god Poseidon and having water powers, but Rick's the boss.
Virgo - Leo Valdez
Virgos are creative, reliable, and sarcastic, and if any Percy Jackson character fits that category, it's charismatic, relatable, and hilarious Leo. While he doesn't seem to take things as serious as he actually does, he wouldn't rest until he's worked out a way to save his friend or get himself out of a sticky situation (that he most likely got himself into.) Virgo being an earth sign resonates with Leo as well in my opinion. Although he's a son of Hephaestus, which to me resonates with fire, his bane is the earth. It took his mother and is his main enemy in the Heroes of Olympus series. That hardship adds so much to who he is, even more than his fire capabilities.
Libra - Silena Beauregard
I'm a Libra and (according to the quiz on Rick Riordan's website) a daughter of Aphrodite, so I felt it was fair pick someone I feel represents me fairly well. Libras are social, fair, romantic, and idealistic. Those traits, when applied to Percy Jackson characters, resonated most with me in Silena. She's proud to be a daughter of love and beauty. She strives to importantly represent those concepts, which can sometimes be seen as materialistic and unnecessary. She stands up for what she believes in and ultimately does what is right in the end. Percy also thought she was one of the nicer Aphrodite girls, which I also feel fits into the social trait we Libras possess.
Scorpio - Luke Castellan
I don't know why I always stick the villains as Scorpios, it's just the vibe I get from the Scorpios in my life. Luke has a fire inside him unlike any other character I've seen in Percy's world, a second-place maybe being Nico di Angelo, but there's an obvious reason for Nico's fire. While he is the villain, he just has a passion to hate the gods. He felt used and unimportant to all the gods, even his father, Hermes. He rose up to fight what he didn't think was right, and that's something admirable of him. And, of course, he made things right in the end.
Sagittarius - Hazel Levesque
Sagittarius have the privilege of identifying as the intriguing Hazel. Her storyline is interesting and sad, but she came out of it a warrior to be reckoned with. She is wise in some ways, yet naive in others. She as an appreciation for beautiful things, but also a hatred deep in her heart for them (most likely because of the curse placed on her by her father, Pluto.) I feel like Sagittarius's are steady, reliable people, and Hazel definitely gives me those vibes.
Capricorn - Thalia Grace
The mysterious and independent Thalia falls under the Capricorn umbrella. Persistent, disciplined, & ambitious are words used to describe both Thalia and Capricorns. Thalia's a natural-born leader & warrior and isn't afraid to speak her mind. The Capricorns I know in my life give off the same vibes too. I wouldn't want to mess with them, just as you do not want to mess with Thalia or the Hunters of Artemis.
Aquarius - Nico di Angelo
I always have mixed feelings about Aquarius, and I also have mixed feelings about Nico di Angelo. He's so young and so angry, yet so frustrating and confusing. Reminds me of a lot of my ex, also an Aquarius. Anyway, where I am in the series may be affecting my view, as I'm not completely done yet. Maybe he'll gain some respect from me and help boost my feelings towards Aquarius's. I do know many that are great, but one bad seed really does be taking down the whole pumpkin patch sometimes.
Pisces - Grover Underwood
Last, but certainly not least, we have Grover. Empathetic, mystical, vibrant Grover. His emotions are easily noticed, and he's very emotional when it comes to his life's purpose: locating Pan and helping restore the wild places. While externally he's more about the comic relief, there really is a depth to him if you look inwardly. He takes on a large burden in the series and handles it with grace. Externally he doesn't even look stressed, but internally, knowing pre-responsible Grover, he must not be handling it as well. That reminds me of Pisces and their quiet, but very noticeable, internal emotional states.
What do you think?
Do you agree? Do you disagree? Do you know nothing about these characters and want to stop reading my article and pick up "The Lightning Thief?" Let me know!
I hope you have an astronomical rest of your day!
Daughter of Aphrodite OUT.
