Which Actually Better Tap Or Bottled Water?
Money Crashers

Growing up, water has been one of the most important drinks in my life. Whether it was hot out and I needed to stay hydrated or I had doctor’s appointment in the morning and I could only have water the night before. It is one of those drinks I choose over a wide variety of drinks like soda or juice because I know that one cup of water could benefit me exponentially more. My purpose for writing this article is to convey which type of water is actually better for you - tap water, or purified bottled water. In order to answer this question I had looked through some articles to see what other people had found between the two items.

Did you know that, “transporting bottles and actually refrigerating them to stay warm gives off greenhouse gases?" (Karlstrom & Dell’Amore) This happens because in order to bring these products over it is transported on some type of vehicle. Whether it is a boat or truck, it is using gas to bring the bottled water to its destination. Also, the, “U.S spends $100 billion every year on bottled water globally.” (Karlstrom & Dell’Amore) “Sales for water bottles beat out milk, coffee, and juice, making it only behind beer and soda.” (Karlstrom & Dell’Amore) Overall, this information gives the indication that bottled water is bad for the environment and is wasting too much money. What makes it all worse is that since, “the U.S tap water is federally regulated and actively looked at to ensure safety.” (Karlstrom & Dell’Amore) So it makes it’s almost contradicting that people will go purchase bottles holding “purified water.”

Did you know during, “many natural disasters bottled water is a critical lifesaver?” (Fager) Major natural disasters cause people to have to evacuate from their homes and sometimes do major damage. Compared to other consumer goods bottled water is the healthiest of them all, being “non-addictive, hypoallergenic, caffeine-free, calorie free and containing no artificial flavors/colors or many more harmful or unnatural substances” (Fager). There are still “major water problems in the world and even the U.S and water bottles account an incredibly small fraction” (Fager). Overall, this information can show how bottled water is an important factor for this world. Maybe the issue is ensuring that there is clean water in this world for everyone to have access to. Also, looking at how bottled water is far better for consumption than other drinking products is huge - especially during a time where you cannot be incredibly confident on what exactly you are consuming.

In conclusion, both types of water have their own pro and cons. However, it comes down to you, myself, and the consumer. What our purchasing choices are can make the difference on which one will succeed more. Whether it will be actively shopping and purchasing bottle products or just filling a cup of with some water and calling it a day. It may look small and insignificant now, but over a period of time the number shift will have a huge impact in the future.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.

Life is full of twists and turns, but you have to keep going.

Life is all about twist and turns, sideways and which ways. Nothing is permanent, so we should take risks, and chase our dreams. We are taught at a young age many lessons that will follow us into adulthood. What we aren't taught is how to feel, and how we handle those emotions. We just have to figure them out ourselves, and that's not fun. In my 21 years of living, I have come to know that way too many people can't handle emotions, or the fact that not everyone is dead inside like them. When you're like me, and you have zero control over your emotions, it's hard to feel comfortable around people who aren't so in touch with themselves. As much as I would like to feel nothing at times, I've accepted who I am and the fact that I can cry over practically nothing. So, there are some things in life that you just have to do.
