We've all had those days... maybe weeks... maybe months where we're feeling down. Things aren't going well for us, and we don't know what to do. It could be that a loved one is sick, or has passed away. It could be relationship problems, family problems, financial problems, and the list goes on and on. We want to make everything better, but we can't on our own. Thankfully, we can bring all of our problems to God. He will see us through the worst of times. He will bring us through the storm.
We can open our Bibles and read so many comforting passages to remind us that God is near, and he will take care of us.
1. Psalm 147:3 “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
2. Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
3. Romans 5:3-4 “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
4. Romans 8:18 “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”
5. Psalm 9:9-10 “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”
6. 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
7. Philippians 4:12-13 “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
8. James 1:12 “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
9. Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
10. Romans 8:31 “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
11. Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
12. Matthew 6:25-30 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?”
We need to remember that this world and the problems that come with it are temporary. This world will not be here forever and neither will we. Some day we will meet our creator, and I hope you're prepared for that day. If you're not a Christian yet, you can have this hope. As long as there is breath in your body, it's not too late.
