The jobs we'll have in and after college require a decent amount of credentials and experience, no matter what your major is. Whether you're a business student, biology major, or interested in being a kindergarten teacher, anyone can benefit from studying abroad.

We've all been told to take advantage of this opportunity because most college kids don't. So if you're thinking of traveling over USA borders, consider the best places based on your major or minor.

1. Science Major

Science and technology in African, Latin and South American countries advances every day. From biology to plant science, programs in these regions are great for an aspiring scientist.

2. Nursing Major

Health majors can certainly benefit from medical practice overseas, especially when minoring in a different language. Particularly in less privileged medical countries like Peru and South Africa, this would be a great experience.

3. Business Major

The top three places Americans go to study abroad according to Forbes are the United Kingdom, Italy, and Spain. However, countries like Japan and Belgium have incredible programs for business majors as well as top corporate companies.

4. Education Major

Working with students that may not speak your same language is challenging and in countries like Somalia and Pakistan, women barely get any education. If you're interested in helping others and teaching, these would be great opportunities.

5. Journalism Major

New York University created top programs for journalism majors in Accra, Ghana; Prague, Czech Republic; Shanghai, China; and London, England.

6. Pre-Law Major

Any university with close ties to its country's government would be ideal for law majors. According to GlobaLinks Learning Abroad, New Zealand and Australia's universities fit this criteria.

7. Engineering Major

European countries like Germany and the United Kingdom not only have incredible programs for every major, but also engineering. Home to corporations like Volkswagen and Siemens, Germany is a hub for technology.

8. Arts Major

Depending on the type of art you're studying, any country with a rich general history will also have a rich art history. And don't forget the gorgeous views in places like Italy or Spain.

9. Language Major

If you're a French major, don't only consider France! Belgium, Haiti, and many African countries are French speaking as well. The same goes for any language, major or minor.

Research your school and pick a program that's right for you. No matter what country you want to go to, no matter your major, you can make it work.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
