In the Northeastern United States, February is one of the coldest months of the year. It was always so cold that they decided to give students off Presidents’ Day week in order to cut back on heating bills. It is currently 1°F outside as I am writing this, but hopefully, it warms up soon! With sub-freezing temperatures (including wind chill of course), one cannot help but wonder, where is Spring?! Here are six Spring events that are not as far away as you think.

1. The beginning of Spring.

Who could forget this? Spring begins on the Spring Equinox around March 21st. This year, it takes place on March 20th, which is about 4.5 weeks away.

2. Spring Break!

Synonymous with Spring, Spring Break offers time to spend with family or escape homework in some tropical place. Don’t worry, Spring Break is only 4.5 weeks away!

3. Easter.

Easter usually falls on one of the first warm weekends of the year and gives everyone an opportunity to finally wear their new spring clothing. Easter, like Spring itself, is usually associated with the renewal of life and an end to the cold weather. Easter is about 6 weeks away!

4. Baseball.

Baseball is considered the national pastime of America and is traditionally viewed as a Spring and Summer sport, even though it sometimes goes until the beginning of November. Overall, the start of baseball usually means spring has begun and summer is near! Opening Day is 7 weeks away!

5. The End of the Semester.

Although the end of the semester means finals, it also means heading back home to see all of your hometown friends and family. Once finals are over, you are officially free!...Until August, but we won’t talk about that. There are 12.5 weeks until the end of the semester and finals! We can do this!

6. Summer!

With all of these countdowns, it would be terrible not to include summer in a list of things to look forward to! Summer begins around June 21st, when the Summer Solstice occurs. This year, summer officially begins on June 20, which is 18 weeks away! Although it seems far, at least spring is only 4.5 weeks away!

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
