It is too damn hot. According to Almanac.com, Fall officially started on September 22, but so far the weather seemingly has not gotten the message.
Here in Tallahassee, Florida, we have gone from scorching 100 degree weather, down to a consistently warm 85 degrees. I am thankful that the heat of Tallahassee summer's has passed, but at the same time, for my liking, the temperature decrease has not gone down fast enough.
I am from Atlanta, Georgia which is about four hours up from the Florida border and even though it is closer to Tallahassee than many other cities in Florida, it still has drastically different weather. Back home we actually experience seasons. I always loved how the leaves would slowly change, how the weather would decrease ever so sightly each week, and how the weather patterns always matched up with holidays. When it is Halloween, I expect it to be a high of 65 degrees outside with leaves flying around and the threat of immense cold on the horizon. For Thanksgiving I picture this as the height of Fall, an endless sea of leaves on the ground, and the temperatures being quite cold. The weather really impacts how I enjoy the holidays because its one thing if you are told that it is Fall, but it is another thing entirely when you FEEL it.
The weather here in Tallahassee is gorgeous however, there is no doubt about it. I do not mind walking to class with clear skies, sunshine, and a nice breeze. The only problem I have is that it has been this way for weeks, with seemingly no end in sight. There is a classic saying that "change is good", and in my opinion that definitely applies to the seasons. Last year I honestly couldn't tell you what time of year it was because it was almost 80 degrees in December.
Going to college in Florida is like being on a vacation for four years straight. There are a lot of highs, but in a weird way I also want a few more lows, specifically when it comes to the weather.
