We are all exhausted and dreading the quickly approaching finals week. We have finally escaped because of Thanksgiving break, and the last thing on our mind is driving back to Statesboro early. However, Eagle Nation, our team, needs us back to support them this Saturday at 6 p.m. I have asked many of my close friends what time they are coming back on Saturday, and I keep getting the same answer: “I won’t be back on Saturday.” Well, that just is not acceptable, and I will tell you why.
Our student fan base has not been seen in the most positive light. With the throwing of emblem discs onto the field at the App State game, we have been classified as a disrespectful student population. Apparently, our “Paulson Stadium North” sign was not as funny to the rest of America as it was to us. Lastly, the trend of students walking out of the games early has led to the stereotype that we are not a supportive student population. Now, I know none of this is true, but I also know that we have to actively work to change this ridiculous stereotype -- and this Saturday is our chance.
The Saturday game could go down in the history of the Sun Belt and of our university. It is our job, as a True Blue student body, to come and support our SBC football team on Saturday. Let's dispel every rumor and negative thought and show the Sun Belt, and the rest of the nation, what an amazing football program we have and how great our university is!
Louisiana Monroe is ranked number seven in the Sun Belt, and we are ranked first. It is destined to be a great game, and we get to show them why we are number one on our own turf. Let’s pack Paulson Stadium this Saturday and show those Warhawks what we are all about! I will be there in my game day best supporting my boys, and I cannot wait to see y’all! Hail Southern!
