When You've Got A Best Friend

Best friend, soul sister, Godsend are just a few of the words that I would use to describe you, my dear. We have been friends for around 12 years now, and man have those years been quite the journey. There are so many times throughout our lives that we have taken a moment to show our love for each other, and this is going to be one of those moments. I have so much love for you in this heart of mine, and here are a few of the things I need to say to you.

Firstly, you are absolutely beautiful.

As girls, it can be so hard for us to see our own beauty, and you should know that it is not hard for anyone to see yours. You have so much beauty whether it be from your heart or your appearance. It hurts my heart so much to hear you say that you can't find your own beauty because you deserve to see what everyone else already sees within you. I need you to always remember that it does not matter what other people think of you rather what you think of yourself, and you should love the person that you are.

Secondly, you deserve every good thing this life can give you.

You, my girl, have put up with a lot. No matter what life has thrown at you, however, you always came back from it stronger than before. I pray that God sends you everything you could possibly hope for because you deserve to have all the happiness in this world.

Third, you have been my one constant friend and I will be forever grateful.

We have been through a lot together. You met me early in life, and you stuck with me through every hardship that has come my way since. You stood with me through the years of being bullied, through the loss of my brother, and too much high school drama to list. You have never complained about being my person. You stayed with me when most people left. You have a heart of gold and I am so glad to have claimed a spot in it.

Lastly (and most importantly), you will never lose my love.

I have not considered you a friend in a long time because you became a sister to me many, many years ago. We have made it through so much, and I have never once lost faith in the friendship that we share. You are my soul sister and that will never change. So please do not ever lose sleep worrying about us because nothing is ever going to break the bond that we share. That is a promise I will make to you.

12 years is quite a long time to be friends with someone, but it isn't nearly long enough for the two of us. I cannot wait to see what the next 12 years will bring us.

"In my friend, I find a second self." ~ Isabel Norton

Thank you for loving me. It is an honor to be your best friend.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
