Hello everyone! This is my first ever article so I'm going to do a quick intro to me. I am 17 and my name is Brielle. I live in Bryn Athyn and am currently a junior at the Academy of the New Church. I love to act and plan to, somehow, become an actress; whether its theater or movies. I love to write and am very excited to be a part of this amazing project.

So, everybody hates it when they're sick, right? Me too. Somehow whenever I get sick I seem to get better, only to get worse and then lose my voice. Losing my voice seems to be a side effect of getting sick… Here are some tricks to feeling better while sick.

1. Echinacea

Now, this stuff is like magic. I usually buy the pill form from Whole Foods because the dropper stuff tastes disgusting. Take two pills or twenty-thirty drops right when you feel a sickness coming on twice a day. The echinacea helps to fight it off before it even fully takes over.

2. Take Alka-Seltzer Plus

It comes in two main forms: pills or dissolvable tablets. The tablets get put into water and dissolve into a seltzer that tastes very gross, but it makes you feel like you're not sick. I prefer the pills because, while they don't work as well, they definitely do not taste bad.

3. Drink Fluids

Yeah, I know, lots of people say this, but its true! Drinking water is the best thing you can do to get better faster. Try to stay away from acidic things like certain tea, milk, and pasta. Try to drink hot drinks like herbal tea.

4.Raw Honey

Now, I am not an organic person, but some organic or raw things really help you when you're sick. Like raw or organic honey, not the surgery store bought stuff. Take a spoonful or two in the morning, afternoon, and night and its natural anti-bodies will help your white blood cells. This is especially good for a sore throat or if you've lost your voice like I have.

5. Eat

I know that when I'm sick I usually can't eat. Just the sight of food makes me want to throw up; but eating is one of the most important things. The food gives your body the needed energy and sustenance to fight the sickness. Try to eat really starchy things because that won't upset your stomach and it takes a while to digest.

Those are, in my opinion, the five most important things to do when you're sick. Remember to listen to your bodies and take care of them. Our bodies are the things that tell us what's wrong and if we listen we can fight off sickness before it even comes.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
