It is the hardest thing ever, saying "goodbye" to your best friend before you leave for college. You've been through so much together. Your pup is always there to comfort you when you're sad, cuddle you when you're lonely, and show you what true love really means. When you go off to college, your best friend has to stay behind, so you have to find some way to get your "puppy-fix."
You will run across campus to pet a dog being walked
It doesn't matter how far away they are, you will run! Small or large, long-haired or short-haired, any dog is fair game. If any of you guys want to pick up some girls, just invest in a puppy. It will work every time!
You and your friends are constantly joking about sneaking a dog into the dorms
This is especially true when you live in a quad or a suite. I mean, honestly, no one will ever know, right?
You follow every dog lover page on Instagram
You have to get your dog-fix somehow. But seriously, they post pictures of the cutest puppies. If you are trying to decide the breed of dog you want, don't look at those pictures because you will literally want every one of them.
You'll take any chance to visit a friend with dogs
"Oh my god! Your dog is the cutest! Can we go visit him?" If only your dogs at home knew that you were cheating on them...
It isn't uncommon to take frequent trips to the pet store
Be careful though, you may walk out with a broken heart because you will want to buy all of them. You also know who your true friends are because they will be the ones that offer to tag along with you!
You are constantly talking about how much you miss your dog at home
Tears may even be shed because you miss them so much! You and your dog-lover friends will spend hours telling stories about your best friends (aka your dogs).
You talk about the kind of dog you're going to get once you move off campus
Forget decorations and roommates, the most important component to your new home will be your pup. Nothing else matters!
You're always calling home to check up on your babies
Aka the dogs.. They aren't really humans, but they are treated like humans. And you're hurt if they don't want to stick around to hear your voice.
When you say you miss your family, that includes the family dog
They are totally a part of the family. They are treated like the baby of the family and can get away with anything.
You're not ashamed to FaceTime and talk like an idiot on the phone to your dog
Sometimes, you're more excited to talk to the dogs than anyone else. People probably get annoyed with your baby voice, but you don't care. You and your dog have a connection that no one else will understand.
