Okay, so love is really cool. Sure, sometimes it can hurt and make you want to rip your hair out, but all of that is worth it to be able to truly know that no matter what, you can always count on that one person to be there and support you. And they're cute too, so there's an automatic bonus.

I've been with my boyfriend for almost 4 years, and I can honestly say that man is my best friend. He understands me like no one else does, and I am constantly pinching myself because there's no way he can be real. I don't want to get too mushy on you guys, so we'll cut to the chase: Here are 8 reasons why having your significant other as your best friend is the bomb. (Illustrated by my all time favorite TV show couples.)

1. They get your sense of humor more than anyone ever could.

There are few things in life that are better than having someone laugh at even the most cringe worthy of jokes. They will never leave you hanging, if nothing else they'll laugh not because the joke is funny but because YOU think it's so funny.

2. You can just tell what the other is thinking without having to say anything at all.

It's like you have ESPN or something (get that Mean Girls reference? No? Okay.). Sometimes words aren't necessary. You guys know each other's "looks" and what they mean.

3. You always have someone in your corner.

This is the best. You always have someone to back you up. Whether it's a sassy comeback or arguing about something you're passionate about, you never have to worry about being alone.

4. They keep you from exploding with stress.

Whether it's taking you to Taco Bell when you feel like your work is overwhelming you, or letting you vent when your boss was being a jerk, they'll do whatever they can to make sure you don't lose your mind.

5. You can completely be yourself around them. And they love it.

As far as you're concerned, being alone with them is the same kind of free feeling as when you're home alone. You don't have to pretend you like all the same foods or love the same songs. Sing as loud as you want, dance like an idiot, talk in a Kermit the Frog voice, whatever, they don't care.

6. You're pretty confident you're the coolest cats around.

You guys are so in tune, and you know it. You don't have any issues letting people know.

7. They're always there when you need a shoulder to cry on.

You never have to worry about dealing with the hard things on your own. Both of you hate nothing more than seeing the other in pain.

8. You just know things are right.

When you know, you know. Through all the great times and the not so great times, you know that they'll always be there. They accept you for all your good qualities and all your faults. You never have to be scared. That's the coolest thing ever, man.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
