4 Things That Happen When Your Name Is Spelled Differently Than The Norm

If you're like me and have an alternative spelling to a common name or even a name that is different, then you've definitely experienced these before.

Pros: It's unique, helps you stand out, defines you as "cool" (sometimes), etc.

But there are definitely some cons...

1. People mispronouncing your name

Nope, it's not Kelsa or Kelse-ah, sorry, thanks for playing, try again.

2. People misspelling your name

I don't even try at Starbucks- if I hear Chelsea, Kelly, or literally anything that rhymes with that, I'll respond and won't even bother to try and fix it.

3. Dealing with the constant red squiggly on Word

Every paper, every letter, resume, etc. Anything that says my name anywhere has that dang red squiggly line to remind me yet again that my name is "wrong."

4. Constant auto correct

I appreciate the spell check Apple, but aren't you supposed to recognize my name??

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area.
