When Your Best Friend Is Your Opposite, As Told By "House M.D."

If you know anything about the TV series, "House M.D.", you know that House and Wilson have a very interesting friendship. And if you don't know anything about it, I'll break it down for you: House is a narcissistic, sarcastic, immature diagnostician, and Wilson is a caring, considerate, mature oncologist. They're total opposites of each other, yet they make the best best friend to one another. These types of friendships may only seem possible on TV; however, they can exist in the real world, and although they may be rare, they can be some of the best friendships you'll ever have. In a world where you are a real life Gregory House (like myself), you will need to find your very own James Wilson -- and this is what having a best friend who is the total opposite of you is really like.

1. They have to put up with your immaturity.

And they're not afraid to tell you to grow up every once in a while.

2. You sometimes have to keep them from getting too caught up in their emotions.

No one ever wants to see their best friend too upset, and sometimes all they need is a reality-check from their indifferent bff.

3. Going out together in public is always an interesting time.

One of you is always bound to embarrass the other, but it's always a fun time.

4. You have to cherish them for being one of the few people who can put up with you.

People with similar qualities to yourself may put up with you a bit easier. So you have to appreciate your best friend especially when they are nothing like you.

5. They're constantly trying to bring out your more emotional side.

If anyone is going to get you to open up, it will be your sensitive best friend.

6. You have to get used to over-dramatization.

When sappy sentiments aren't necessarily your thing, you have to adapt to your best friends seemingly over-dramatic thoughts.

7. ...And they have to get used to your harsh remarks.

You'll admit, sometimes you can be a bit rude on occasion. But when you're naturally sarcastic, someone is going to have to get used to it -- and that someone will just have to be your best friend.

8. They keep your attitude in check.

You rely on their kind nature to make sure you aren't being too savage, especially in public.

9. They make you feel things that you may not usually feel.

And if you're going to get emotional over something, it's going to be about them.

10. You can never be mean to them and really mean it.

No matter how much you make fun of them, you never truly mean what you say -- you love them too much for that.

11. You're each other's eternal support system.

Even if you don't always fully understand what the other is going through.

12. You balance each other out, and no differences can keep you apart.

Because you need each other more than you may realize in order to stay sane.

13. But no matter how opposite you two may be, you're always on the same page.

More synchronized than synchronized swimmers.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
