The saying goes “Time flies, when you’re having fun.” It's a crazy thought to think, that the time you've already spent, is all the time that you have left. People always say college goes by so fast, that you have to be careful not to blink and that couldn’t be closer to the truth. My first day of college felt like it was just yesterday. I can remember what I was wearing, what I did, and who I met. You have such good times in college that it goes by way too quickly. Before you know it you’ll be moving out. It’s hard to think that the day where you have to move on from the most amazing time in your life is closer than you think.
You can’t help but wonder what the future looks like for not only you, but for all your friends as well. You might wonder what job you are going to have and where all of your friends will be in five to ten years. You can only hope that you will stay in touch with your group, but then again who knows where everyone will move to. You watch all the graduates decorate their caps and mentally prepare themselves for the next years to come and you know that pretty soon that is going to be you. Every college student knows that the thought of leaving college and entering the real world is one of the scariest and most nerve wrecking thoughts. It’s the unknown of the working world that freaks us out the most. Will I find a job? Will it be a good job? Where will I live? Who will I live with? These and many more questions swarm your head on a daily basis.
You know that every grade you earn, and every mistake you make will effect your future and that may hold you back from taking risks. But deep down you know that the only way to achieve greatness is by taking many, many risks and not being afraid to take them. All the problems we once had to deal with such as bad professors, group projects, and low test scores will seem very minor. Instead of getting up for school you will get up for work, every…single…day.
But let’s get back to the present, the moment that you’re living right now. It’s amazing, you’re young and the possibilities are endless. That’s why it’s so important that we enjoy the time we have in college, with our friends and our minute problems, because in just two years we’re going to be real adults. We shouldn't worry about how close we are to graduation because it truly doesn't matter. We may be halfway through with college but we have a lifetime of opportunities ahead of us.
