Packing before a big trip can always be a long and stressful process. I had to pack for a week and a half trip to Ireland with my family. As excited as I was, I still had to make sure that I had everything ready before going. Packing is not exactly fun, especially for someone who can be really lazy. This is usually what happens when I'm packing, I'm sure that many can agree with me on some of this.
1. Packing the night before.
When I first heard the news that I was going to Ireland, I was ecstatic! I knew I had to start packing at some point but the date seemed so far away. When it came to the date being weeks away, I always told myself that I would do it tomorrow but would either be too busy or made plans. Soon enough, the two days before can be hectic. The packing turns into the night before where you have to make sure you are all ready before you make your way to the airport.
2. Overpacking.
A problem that I always have with packing is that I pack way too much. I always think ridiculous thoughts of what could occur on the trip where I would need certain items or outfits. What if I happen to read all three of the books that I packed for the trip? Maybe I should bring four instead. I heard it rains in Ireland, I should bring my giant and heavy rain boots. Most of the time when I come up with these scenarios. I think that I am a genius and that this is great thinking. Later on is when I finally realize how ridiculous this is.
3. Choosing what to bring.
Narrowing down your giant piles of clothing can always be tough. You want to bring your whole wardrobe but you know you can't. You try to pack some of your best outfits but must remember that you need to also pack certain comfortable outfits that are good for the long walks during the tours. Since I am going to Europe, I make sure that I pack lots of layers for the constant back-and-forth cold and hot weather.
4. Limiting what you are bringing.
One of the most nerve wracking things about through the checkout process in the airport is the weight limit for your suitcases. I always hold my breath and hope that the number is below the limit so I don't have to pay, or worse, throw things out. It was a close call on my way back to America from my trip to London last summer. I bought so many gifts that my suitcase, carry on, and purse were all filled up.
