When You Need A Hug

There are plenty of hugs to go around.

When You Need A Hug

Two arms wrapped comfortably around my shoulders to my back, squeezing just enough to receive maximum satisfaction.

Hugs.

They are quite a wonderful thing.

Good for your health, and good for the soul.

Whether they are best friend hugs, family hugs, bear hugs, quick hugs, or super long hugs that you never want to end.

Hugs are just awesome.

When you are having a bad day, or just not a good day, and you are with friends. If one of your friends just knows, and they come over and give you a hug. It is a feeling of relief sometimes when you can just hug someone instead of having to rant about whatever may be wrong.

Or how about those hugs that you do where you are lying down with someone you love. When your feet are all tangled together, and you are just laying there on the floor, or in bed, hugging. It could be a gentle hug like the two of you are falling asleep, or it could be a tight hug that brings your chest close to your partner's for reasons you may wish to keep to yourself.

Sometimes you just need a hug to say hello, or goodbye for that matter.

There are also those hugs where you sway back and forth with someone in content.

Or there are the hugs where you scream in excitement and jump up and down because of something joyous that just happened.

Oh, and there are the hugs you give to your grandparents or uncles and aunts in gratitude.

However, we cannot forget about friendship hugs.

These are the hugs that sometimes show all our emotions simultaneously. Where we have so much going on in our minds that we let it all out.

When you become part of a cheesy cliche movie at the airport picking up your friend, and the two of you run into each other's arms because you haven't seen each other in such a long time.

Where you are crying in the hug because you missed that person so much that a hug and a cry is all you can do in that situation.

There are also the hugs and crying when you are about to leave someone you love, or someone you love is about to leave you. That is also a time when all you can do is hug and cry it out, because in that moment, your heart is hurting from the sadness.

Giving hugs to strangers is also a great thing to do, because you never know when that could simply make a person's day. You never know if that is just something that they needed to get through the day.

So, my advice for anyone out there, give someone you love a hug. Give someone you don't love. Just give hugs. They are needed everywhere.

To those who are in need of a hug today....sending virtual hug right now.

Did you get it? No? Well, my love is still there for you regardless, so be strong and have a glorious day.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
