A lot of things are said in the heat of the moment. I want to remind people things that happen, when they are so huge, are not the entire fault or identity of the people you love who are different from you. So here's a list of things you do, when you love someone:
1. You smile with them.
Before last week your friend made you smile- let them do it again.
2. You laugh about silly things.
Before this week you thought your friend was hysterical- don't hold back the laughter out of spite.
3.You try new things together.
Before this week you trusted your friend to discover new streets of the city. Don't stop trusting them.
4. You work together.
Before this week you crammed for exams together and edited each other's papers. Don't doubt their intellect.
5. You play together.
Before this week you found their company fun, and exciting. Don't stop thinking so.
6. You listen & hear them.
Before this week you'd always listen. Don't choose to be deaf now.
7. You cry with them.
Before this week you could empathize; don't stop now.
8. You speak, and are heard.
Before this week you could say what you thought; don't stop now.
9. You comfort them.
Before this week you could hug them; don't stop the love.
10. You correct them.
Before this week you could tell them when they're wrong; don't stop calling them out.
11. You respect them.
Before this week, you could respect your friend, whatever differences in mind; do not let hate rule you.
12. You fight (but you resolve).
Before this week, you could fight without attacking the person; do not start to do so now.
13. You get mad (but you forgive).
Before this week, you could get angry and forgive each other. Do not start to hold grudges.
14. You help each other.
Before this week, you could help each other without reservation; do not stop now.
15. You choose to live with love.
Before this week, you knew love. After this week, know love.
When nothing is owed or deserved or expected
And your life doesn't change by the man who's elected
If you're loved by someone you're never rejected
