When You Love Makeup

Sisters not twins, sisters not twins, sisters not twins...

When You Love Makeup
Readers Digest

Makeup is such a unique thing. It is an art, and yet it is an everyday activity for a lot of people. It is used to make features stand out, and it is used to hide certain features. It can make you look like a different person, but it can also make you look like just about anything if the artist has the talent for it. It is amazing what people can do with makeup, and anyone can do it.

1. There is a space in your home dedicated to makeup

As expensive as it is, it might as well have its own room.

2. Traveling gets stressful

You just never have a makeup bag big enough, and as a result, you must choose what products to take.

3. You have found your lifelong motto

Every morning you repeat “sisters not twins” to yourself as you try to convince yourself that your eyebrows and eyeliner don’t look like distant cousins.

4. YouTube tutorials have saved you many times

Whether it is learning how to do new trends or techniques or just learning the basics, YouTube has become a lifesaver in the makeup community.

5. You love/hate new trends

New trends are fun to try, but a lot of them do not stick around for long and some require buying expensive products. However, without new trends highlighting and contouring would be a completely foreign idea to most of us.

6. You clearly have your priorities straight

Do I want a new lipstick or food tonight…?

7. Purchases can be a bit impractical

Yes, I will definitely have a use for Jeffree Star’s black highlighter…

8. You become judgmental about others’ makeup

We all know it is not cool to judge people, but I cannot help but cringe when I see a pair of comma eyebrows walk down the street. We have all been at a makeup low so it’s more of an empathy thing anyway.

9. You also experience makeup envy

We all know the feeling of seeing superior makeup and wondering how the hell the person creates such majestic beauty…

10. You secretly love it when you’re asked to do somebody’s makeup

People often feel bad asking because they think it is an inconvenience, but you love showing off and having other people compliment your work.

11. You know you are beautiful without your makeup

People who love makeup are often told that they do not need it or they should wear less, but most of us know that we do not need it. We love the art. We love trying new techniques and learning different styles. It is not about covering up your natural features. It is about showing your personality by accentuating the features we love.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
