I moved to Ohio and started my job with a national laser vision correction company in July of 2016. I chose the company because of the low turnover rate and, at the time, it was eight minutes from my house. But I never expected to make such great friends. I mean, of course everyone goes into a new job hoping and praying like hell that their fellow coworkers will be chill, laid back individuals with nice personalities. I work in a small office with just two other people, another tech and our doctor. That is it folks. So if we didn't like each other it would bad news bears.
Things started off decent. Everyone was just polite. But as time went by, we all got comfortable. We figured out each others' personalities, likes, dislikes and ticks. Now it's like we are one tiny family unit. We stand up for one another and help each other out even outside the office. The other tech and I are basically best friends. We take lunch together every day and, outside of office hours, we are on a spring kickball league together. In today's society you know you are close with someone when they achieve the "heart" status on your Snapchat, which she has. Our personalities could not be more polar opposite if we tried, but somehow it works for us. She has taught me to be more spontaneous and to stand up for myself a bit more. I like to think I have taught her to not be so vocal about her opinions, but I'm still waiting for the verdict on that one.
