When You Give A Girl A Puppy

When you give a girl a puppy…

You are giving her responsibility. A dog is not like a doll. She cannot put it on the highest shelf of her closet and only take it down when she feels like it. A puppy requires constant care. She is in charge of making sure this puppy has exactly what he needs, exactly when he needs it. She needs to walk him, feed him, take him to the vet when he is sick and throw his favorite toy across the room to watch him run as fast as he can after it. When you give a girl responsibility, she becomes a better person for it.

You are giving her love. “A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself," Josh Billings said. This dog will always be there for her when she is sad. He will always keep her secrets. The bond between this girl and her puppy will become unbreakable. She will feel a love for him that she didn’t even know existed. When you give a girl love, her heart will become full.

You are giving her something to miss. Whether she is 5 or 18, she will always miss her puppy. He is the first one to greet her at the door when she comes home, and he is the first one to whine when she leaves again. She will be sad whenever she is away from him. Her parents will be sure to send her pictures of him, daily. When you give a girl something to miss, you give her something to look forward to coming home too.

You are giving her a lot of compliments. “Oh my goodness, your puppy is so adorable!” “Look at that little puppy face, so sweet.” “Can I pet your dog?” When you give a girl a compliment, she will keep begging for more.

You are teaching her a lesson. You are teaching her to cherish the time that she has with her puppy. Dogs do not live forever, no matter how badly we wish they did. You are teaching her to love him with her entire heart, to care for him whenever he needs it and to miss him whenever he’s gone. When you give a girl a lesson, she will become the teacher.

When you a give a girl a puppy, you are giving her a best friend. This little, four-legged animal is now her life. He is who she prefers to cuddle with when napping, who she enjoys walking around town with, the only one she will share her ice cream with and the one who makes her laugh most.

When you give a girl a puppy, you are giving her a partner.

And, when you give a puppy a girl, you are giving him everything.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
