When You Assume, It Makes An ASS Of U And ME

You can be the craziest girl at the bar, the most athletic, and the smartest in the classroom because no one knows what you're capable of.

When You Assume, It Makes An ASS Of U And ME

You CAN do it all.

You might not know me personally, and then again you might. You might just read my blogs and not bother to look at the writer, and that's fine. My goal is to reach you, whoever you might me.

I am broadcasting the fact, with no shame, that I am walking proof, that just because you do, like, want, think, believe one thing, DOES NOT MEAN you are like this, that or don’t like people like that or ideas about this.

I am taking this opportunity to write for the people who can do, and who do, DO it all.

Just because you have a boyfriend doesn’t mean you are no longer independent. Just because you like to read in your free time doesn’t mean you are boring. Just because you are smart doesn’t mean you don’t know how to have a good time. Just because you like to party doesn’t mean you are wild and out of control. Just because you are a single parent doesn’t mean your child will have a poor upbringing. Just because you have wronged once doesn’t mean you will be wrong your whole life. Just because you are religious doesn’t mean you want nothing to do with those who aren't. Just because you don't practice a religion "the right way" doesn't mean you don't have faith. Just because you make a lot of money doesn’t mean you are greedy. Just because you are poor doesn’t mean you have a disadvantage in life. Just because it takes you longer to learn something doesn’t mean you won’t success.

You get the point. The amount of assumptions that people make based on the small things that one may perceive about you is ridiculous. Assuming makes an ASS of U and ME. You can do it all. You can be anything you want to be. And if you can, so can someone else. Everyone is different in their own ways and carries their own beliefs and values. Stop making assumptions because it is quite possible to be the wildest one at the bar and the smartest in the classroom. People make assumptions based on prior knowledge and experiences, but it gives us an unfair advantage. Granted, life isn't fair, but we don't deserve a label.

Bottom line, you, just as much as the next person, are completely unaware of my, yours and their capabilities. It doesn't matter what you do, and it doesn't matter what people think. Don't assume anything about someone else because you wouldn't want them to draw conclusions about you now, would you?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
