This annoying phenomenon happens to every great writer at some point. As someone who has been writing for about 10 years now, I know the pain of dealing with writer's block. I stare at the computer screen and no words come to mind. My head just feels stuck. It can be frustrating. It's always hard to get writing again, no matter how hard you try.

Here are some powerful ways you can get back into the flow of writing:

1. Step away from your writing and do something creative.

Whether you paint portraits or make sculptures out of garbage, it's important to get the creative juices flowing again. Work on that creative project for a few hours or days and then go back to writing. When I'm stuck, I try painting landscapes using acrylics or watercolors. The key is to exercise the creative part of your brain.

2. Write in a different location than usual.

Sometimes a change of setting can be extremely inspiring. However, try to find a new place that is both practical and has minimal distractions. It would be hard for me to write in a train station. If you are writing about the place where you normally write, I suggest taking photographs to use as a reference in your new location.

3. Brainstorm ideas in bullet points.

Although you aren't directly working on your novel, taking the time to come up with new ideas can help you get out of that rut. As you eliminate some of the possibilities, try to remember that the ideas that sound ridiculous are always the most interesting.

4. Try free writing.

You overcome writer's block by writing. Start somewhere. Anywhere. Write a few lines and see what happens. It doesn't need to be perfect; that's what editing is for. It just needs to be written down so you can use it later.

5. Do something to get your blood flowing.

Personally, I always feel the most inspired after I get a good workout in. Even if you don't like going to the gym or can't afford a membership, try going outside and go for a walk. If you happen to live in an unsafe neighborhood, there are a lot of resources available that you can use to exercise at home. The era of fitness games is upon us.

When you try one or all of these methods, you'll find that writer's block is just a minor speed bump on the road of writing. Happy writing!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
