When The World Seems To Be Falling Down, There Is Hope To Be Found

There is hope in the Word that God has given us to cling to in times of trial.

In life, hard times are inevitable (but they seem more frequent when you’re a busy, broke, and tired college student). But thanks be to God for the Hope we can hold on to found in His word.

I asked eight of my closest friends for their go-to verses/passages they cling to in times of trial, and these were their responses…

1. Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

2. Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans for a hope and a future.”

3. Deuteronomy 29:29

“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”

4. Ephesians 3:20-21

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or imagine, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

5. Psalm 73:23

“Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand.”

6. Ecclesiastes 3:1

“For everything, there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”

7. John 16:33

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world.”

8. Luke 1:45

“Blessed is she who believes the Lord will fulfill His promises to her.”

9. Exodus 14:14

“The Lord will fight for you, and you only have to be still.”

10. Esther 4:14

“And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

11. Isaiah 26:3

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is fixed on you because he trusts in you.”

12. Isaiah 58:11

“And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”

13. Matthew 6:33

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all of these things will be added to you.”

14. Philippians 4:6

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

15. Colossians 1:13-14

“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

While it may seem like you are alone, be encouraged- in the toughest of times, the Almighty God has got your back. You can overcome this situation because He has overcome the grave.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
