Most of society knows who Tim Burton is, and the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. If you don't, Tim Burton is a director who directed and created various movies. This includes, "Edward Scissor Hands", "Frankenweenie", "Corpse Bride", along with others. One of the most famous is his movie "The Nightmare Before Christmas". This movie took three years to create and the debate began on when exactly to watch this movie.
It is easy to say that it is meant to be watched at Halloween because it is about a Halloween Town hijacking Christmas. Tim Burton gives a morbid and dark image to the toys that were made and how different characters were brought to light. Without giving the story away for those who have not seen it, Tim Burton brings various popular characters into reality and shows how their minds revolve around their holiday.
SO it is REALLY fun to see how Jack, the male lead role, stumbles across a circle of doors that lead to various holidays. Jack finds the Christmas door enchanting because of the brightness and decor of the door. As the movie goes along we see the Halloween creation of various Christmas toys. Tim Burton even included his version of Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse.
When watching it at Christmas you can relate that it still involves Christmas and the essence of finding out what Christmas is all about. It shows the beauty of Christmas Town and how much work goes into working on Christmas. This also puts into perspective that even though Halloween can come up with toys and deliver them, their perspectives of what they find "pleasant" and "sweet" are different.
When Jack delivers the gifts, it terrifies the children and he assumes that when they scream it's a good thing because he is used to making people scream. Tim Burton brings in the reindeer, trees, snow, decorations, and Santa into this movie that could give it a Christmas movie feel.
Tim Burton finally told society that it was made to be watched at Halloween because it was heavily based with a Halloween background. However, why should you have to choose?! As a firm Tim Burton fan, I watch this movie all year around but more often at Halloween and Christmas! So whatever side you are on, I would not consider you wrong! So go grab a blanket, pillow, and all your favorite snacks, snuggle up on the couch and enjoy!
Happy Halloween Everyone!
