Has it ever caught your attention, the red and green lights from a decorated resident house? I know it has caught my eye, especially in the middle of October!
I never quite understood why families start decorating for the holidays so soon, even though another hasn't even passed as yet. I thought by now, I would have some kind of clarity, but instead, I'm left in the dark like the rest of the practical individuals who despise early Christmas decorators.
To shed some light on this madness, let's discuss the positives about early Christmas decorations. For instance, to a suburban area that may seem dull, it brings life to the daftness. Another affirmative: It may bring a warm smile to someone's face. The holiday season does brighten up the mood for a lot of people. But there are some downfalls.
Now unless there is some unspoken contest awarding a resident to be the most obnoxiously decorated house on the block, or who can put up the most ornaments on the front of your house the earliest, there should be no reason why anyone should be going “ham” on Christmas decorations. I know, I know… Where's the holiday spirit you Scrooge?!
I am no Scrooge! But I am an annoyed youngster tired of being blinded by Christmas lights in the middle of October/November. From a young age, I have always spitefully hated these acts. And I believe I recall seeing decorations as early as April.
Now just to be clear, I don’t hate the people that commit these actions. I only dislike their actions! And don't get me wrong, decorating for the holidays has this amazing feeling to it. But only when it’s close by.
Just think about it. You put up all your Christmas decorations, and come December, you're bored. You're out of classes, or work, and now all you can do is eat up all the candy canes and then have to buy a new set later on in the week.
I don’t know what it is about people and their holiday decorations, but I hope you know that you're blinding the eyes of pedestrians to show off your Christmas spirit. But until they come to this realization, I'll just have to walk away and say "scrooge it"!
