Growing up we all had a book where the world appeared to be real in our minds. As you flipped through the pages, the characters and environments seemed to become real, and when you closed your eyes at night you dreamt of yourself in that world. For me this was the wizarding world that J.K. Rowling had created.
Harry Potter is a book series that I grew up with, and followed for as long as I remember. It was a book that my parents used to read to me before I went to bed, when I was too young to be able to read by myself. The characters, the story, and the world just became something that I wanted to be a part of. Joe put so much effort into the detail of the world she created. The classes, creatures, spells, and history had so much detail put into it that made it seem more real.
From the books, Joe's world became real through eight successful films making more than 7 billion dollars worldwide from all eight films. Now the world has come to life in three theme park locations in Orlando, Hollywood, and Japan. Last summer in 2015 I got to go to the theme park in Orlando. They took me through escaping Gringotts bank, to wondering through the corridors of Hogwarts, and through the streets of dragon alley, and Hogsmeade. It had felt like my whole childhood had come to life, and I was actually living in the wizarding world. It was something that truly felt magical to me, and felt alive.
Its hard for me to find a series that I can really get into, and really show interest into the entire world that an author has created. J.K. Rowling hooked me into this magical world, from the moment that Harry was dropped off onto Privet Drive. And her world is ever growing and still being expanded 18 years since the release of her first novel. I can't wait to see where her writing will take us.
