You know those days when life seems to be extremely cruel to you? Those days when you accuse your cell phone of fast-forwarding the clock to make you believe you have been sleeping for six hours when in reality you went to bed thirty minutes ago? We even gave these days a name, Monday. Yeah, I knew you had an idea of what I was talking about.

So for the days when you find out that you ran out of coffee, or your mascara decides to attack you, or when your wardrobe for some reason is hiding all your good clothes from you, here are some helpful things to remember...

1. It's ok not to smile all the time

Usually, I will be the first person to tell you that if you smile to the world, the world smiles back at you, but let’s be honest folks, not all days are like that. If you don’t feel like smiling one day, simply say “I had Botox this morning Susan, and it’s none of your business” this is sure to not open up for any follow-up questions.

2. All you need is a bottle of booze and a good rant session

I swear, all you might need is a good boozy night and some rant sessions and you will feel a weight lifted off those shoulders. There is nothing wrong in needing some venting time now and again. If your significant other (cat, dog, whatever) doesn’t want to listen, give me a call, I will always be up for that. *Winking face*

3. Cry it out

Now let’s just get one thing straight, I don’t cry. In fact, I hate crying. I hate crying so much the only times I actually cry is at the worst possible moments, and because I don’t cry usually when I start there is no going back. Anyways, a good cry is actually such a cleansing feeling on a bad day. Helpful tip: if you are not a crier like me, step into the shower and cry there, no one will know.

4. Write it, shout it, or sing it out

After that cry you just had, you need to turn your mood around, so choose your method and get those feeling all the way out. You see after that good cry of yours, you might find that putting your feeling into words will be easier. I like to write, you might want to shout or sing, either way, it’s all good in the hood.

5. Treat yo' self

Put on that comfy pair of socks, wear the one piece you love or your birthday suit, sit your ass down and watch something you love, or read your favorite book, or play your favorite video game. It’s actually no joke that taking care of your soul is really important, and what your soul wants is some nice me time.

6. Call your mommy

Or your dad, your best friend, your therapist, your grandma, or leave a voicemail for yourself, because chances are that they have some helpful comments. Let’s face it we all have these days, and maybe all you need is to hear that you are not alone. In fact, if you call your mom and start by saying “Mommy I need you” you might even get a free care package out of it too.

7. Cut off all communication

Relax! I don’t mean forever, but sometimes just cutting yourself off from everything and everyone might be the best thing for you. So take a good break from social media, don’t make any plans, and don’t answer the phone when Carol calls to talk about her problems. It’s always good to be a great friend, but sometimes you just need to spend some time with yourself and not worry about anybody else’s problems.

Remember good people, we all have bad days, and we are all allowed to have them. Now I am going to go back to my bottle of wine and pretend the world does not exist.
