When Homework Becomes too much

What you do when homework becomes overwhelming

Let's admit it, no one actually enjoys homework all the time; some don't even like it at all. But we all have to do homework at some point and at times, it can be really frustrating. So what do you do when the homework you've been doing for the past hour is making you so unbelievably frustrated? I got a few tips and tricks to get your mind clear, and help you refocus so that homework you have doesn't seem as infuriating.

One way you can get yourself refocused is just simply, getting up and taking a 5 or 10 minute break from your work. Take this time to take some deep breaths and don't think about it for a little. What you can do in a few minutes to clear you mind is amazing. Watch a makeup tutorial, a vlog, or a couple minutes scrolling through social media. You can even do a little 10 minute meditation to just clear you mind and put yourself at ease.

Another way you can ease your mind when homework seems like the boss level in a really hard video game is to go workout. I know what you may be thinking, why would I workout when I still have all this homework left? but hear me out. If you're taking all your frustration out on that treadmill or lifting those weights until you are red in the face, you're taking out that anger on something else. Plus, it never hurts to workout! Then once you're done, you'll take a shower, and you're mind will be fresh and that homework won't be too hard to complete.

This tip is one everyone can get on board with, eat some food! Now, I don't mean order a large pizza from Domino's for yourself and eat it all before you finish your homework. I mean grab a snack if you're doing homework at night and you've already ate your meal. Or look at the clock and realized you've been doing this homework straight through dinner and you haven't eaten. Nothing is going to be done correctly if you're starving yourself to get through it.

The fourth tip is to turn off all the distractions. If you're getting too wrapped up in your music, turn it off. If you catch yourself staring at the tv because your favorite show is on, turn it off. If you're too busy talking to a group of friends, go to a quiet place on your own and do your homework. Some of the biggest issues with completing homework is all the distractions, because some of them aren't always so obvious. If you're always doing homework with friends, then sometimes you can't see that they can be a distraction.

My last tip is if you haven't asked for someone else's help with your homework, ask! I know that sounds obvious but sometimes, when you work yourself up like that, you don't realize you just need help from a friend or teacher. So take a deep breath and go to someone you trust and say, can you help me with my homework? 9/10 times, people will say yes. So yes, sometimes it is as simple as asking someone for help.

In the end there as endless possibilities on how to get yourself refocused and clear minded, but I hope these five tips help you when you find that homework might be too much at the moment.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
