Don't blink -- you'll be sleep-deprived in a library cubby before you know it. As usual, summer has lasted about a solid 15 minutes this year. One by one, your friends head back to their old stomping grounds, and you're soon to be the next. You say over-dramatic goodbyes every time one of your beloved packs up and hits the road, knowing you'll see them in a couple months.
You feel that good 'ole back to class vibe where you can sense the syllabi and the slideshows approaching so quickly that you can almost taste the double shot latte on your tongue.
But with all the hustle and bustle that comes along with a new semester, there's so many things to look forward to. For one, I am utterly obsessed with buying school and office supplies. I may not put it all to use, but you can't stop me from buying five planners. I know this because people have tried. On that note, buying anything new makes me happy. Makeup, clothes, (not textbooks) all give me this (possibly false) sense that I have it all together.
I love making lists. To do, goals, packing lists -- I like 'em all and I love re-reading my new schedule (also a list?). I get so excited thinking about all the new topics that'll be entering my mind. I always wake up excited going to class, I miss having that structure during the summer months.
The last few days of summer are quickly rolling by, but I find joy in the idea of reuniting with my college friends. We'll all soon be back on track with our lunch dates and gym runs (or vice versa really).
One final note that really makes me realize that the semester is right around the corner is watching my paycheck float away gently in the breeze towards bookstores that are more than willing to catch it just in time.
Make this semester worth remembering, make goals, stay connected with as many people as possible, make an effort and don't forget to make use of your five planners.
