One thing I have struggled with (but improved over time) is my patience. I always want to know everything right now. I want to know what career I will have, where I will graduate college, who I will marry, where I will live and a lot more. As a senior in high school, I get asked the question all the time, “What are you going to major in, and what are your future plans?” While I have thought about this constantly, I don’t know the answer yet. Not knowing exactly how my life is going to look within the next few years is scary.I felt as though I wasn’t at ease until I knew the answers to these questions. However, I felt much different about the situation after reading and understanding these scripture verses:
1. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
2. Psalms 37:7 “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him…”
3. John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. "
4. Ecclesiastes 3:2 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens…”
5. Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
It's so easy to make our own
plans, even when God has the perfect plan laid out for us already. Often times we overanalyze matters to the point of complete frustration. It’s difficult to be still and
patient when the world around us is insane; however, if you
don't take the time to listen to God, you are not going to get an answer. God doesn't ignore our prayers, He is simply has the perfect timing for everything in our lives.
