What God Is Really Giving You When He Gives You An Older Sister

When God Gives You An Older Sister

The dictionary defines sisters as "a woman or girl in relation to other daughters and sons of her parents." That is the most broad basically inaccurate description I have ever read. I am most certain when God saw me he knew there were two things I needed 1. A loving family and 2. A sister. He gave me a loving family that came with giving me a sister and over the years I have learned all of the gifts that have come from God giving me a sister.

When God gives you a sister he gives you someone who will watch cartoons with you every weekend morning. When I was younger my sister and I would watch Arthur, Rugrats, and Power Puff Girls together every weekend without fail.

When God gives you a sister he gives you a tutor, doctor and body guard by the time you are 5. My sister picked me up off of the pavement with tears down my face and scrapes on my arms, took me home put band-aids on me and made sure the tears were dry. Having an older sister means from the time you are 5 you have someone who will protect you against anyone from and anything. From the time you are learning colors and numbers your older sister is by your side helping you learn and helping through the dreaded math sheets.

When God gives you a sister he gives you someone who will judge your boyfriends and make sure they are good enough for you. I have always been protective of my older sister in this area, she deserves the world and through her finding a great guy I have found approval and I couldn't be more happy watching their relationship. It's hard having someone pass the certain "tests" you set up in your mind of the person your sister deserves to be with and when they have found someone who surpasses your expectations it is a beautiful thing.

When God gives you a sister he gives you someone who will be hard on you but always have your best interest at heart . My sister has been right about a lot most of the time. Even through me thinking she was being "mean" I have come to understand that being my older sister it's her job to care, and she does a great job at it. She has always been honest with me and has always tried helping lead me down a right path. Each time I have needed someone she has always been there.

When God Gives you a sister he gives you someone that will be by your side forever and a best friend. God never gives you something you don't need, a sister is something I need to have in my life and thankfully having a sister means she will be in my life forever. She will be my maid of honor the day I get married, she will be my children's God Mother and she will always be on my side even when it feels like the world is against me.

So tell me how exactly a "sister" could be summed up by the definition the dictionary says?

It can't.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
