When You Give A Girl A Sister...
Maddie Jordan

When you give a girl a sister, a lot of things are going to happen. But most importantly, her life is going to be changed forever. Because when you give a girl a sister, you give her so much more than someone to pick on, share clothes with, and gossip with. You have given her a lifelong best friend to confide in and share memories and life with.

Many people may not be very close with their sister or sisters, but that is simply not the case for me. My sister is someone that is so dear to my heart, that I would move mountains for her. Maybe I feel differently too because I am older, but I don’t really think that matters. I have been able to watch my sister grow and had the opportunity of growing alongside her. Even though I didn’t feel like it at times, my sister is my biggest blessing.

She is someone to recite movie quotes with, hang out with at family parties, listen to all of your problems, and be yourself with. She can one of your biggest inspirations and amaze you all the time. She is someone to go get ice cream with, have the best jam sessions in the car with, make fun of, and watch Netflix with.

When you give a girl a sister, you give her someone to lean on when times get tough. You give her someone to tell secrets to that you don’t want to tell anyone else (sorry mom). You give her someone to probably match from the years of 3-8. You give her someone to learn to share with. You give her someone to play house or school with.

When you give a girl a sister, you give her someone to look after. You give her a reason to have some responsibility. You give her more anxiety and worries because she wants everything to be great for her sister. You give her someone that makes her heart so full. You give her someone that she would do anything to make sure her sister isn’t hurt or troubled.

If I didn’t have my sister in my life, I think that I would be truly lost. She has taught me so much and I will always love and help her too. She is growing into the most amazing person and I wish nothing but the best for her. We have gone through Hell and back together and she is the definition of my ‘Day 1’. And I will make sure that she is always taken care of. Because when you give a girl a sister, she becomes such a big part of your life, you don’t know what you would ever do without her.

When you give a girl a sister, her life is changed forever.

Love you sis xoxo

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
